BROOKINGS – Family and loved ones embraced their new high school graduates, above, and posed for photos, at right, at the Swiftel Center on Sunday, for Brookings High School’s 130th annual commencement.
In all, 200 BHS seniors crossed the stage to receive their diplomas this past weekend. The center was packed full of the graduates’ supporters.
Opening remarks were given by Student Council Rep. Cydne Munson. Additional student speakers were David Park, National Honor Society president; Macy Law, student body president; and Megan Lippert, Student Council representative.
BHS choir, orchestra and symphonic band performed several musical arrangements, including the hit “Shallow” from the movie “A Star is Born.”
BHS had 71 students from the Class of 2019 who were Regent Scholars, 54 members of the National Honor Society, and seven students who received the National Certificate of Merit. One hundred scholarships were presented at the Academic Awards Night at BHS.
