Cossack boys, Flier girls win team titles at Arlington Cross Country Invite

ARLINGTON – The Sioux Valley boys and Flandreau girls took the team titles at the Arlington Cross Country Invite on Tuesday at Lake Region.



Kelton Vincent won the 5K in 18 minutes, 11 seconds and teammate Max Nielson was runner-up in 18:15 as the Cossacks totaled eight team points for the win.

Great Plains Lutheran (17) was second, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland (33) third and Elkton-Lake Benton (52) fourth. Flandreau (59) took seventh, Lake Preston (81) was ninth and Estelline (84) ended up 10th.

The Panthers’ Ryan Maertz placed third in 18:33. Lake Preston’s Rhett McMasters came in in fourth with an 18:41 clocking.

Christian Rosas Landin (18:45) rounded out the top five while also completing Sioux Valley’s team total.

Miles Harming paced the Elks, taking seventh in 19:02. The Raiders’ Jack Olson (19:06) and Justin Casanova (19:35) were 10th and 11th, respectively.

Ben Hobbie paced the Fliers, taking 13th in 19:45. ORR’s Connor Spilde (19:50) was 15th to round out his team’s tally. Estelline’s Riley Benning finished 16th in 19:57 and Flandreau’s Austin Kulm took 19th in 20:21.

ELB’s Riley Hunter (21:09) finished 23rd and Cameron Lorden (21:17) was 24th.



The Fliers put five runners in the top 10 – including medalist Madeline Hursey, who posted a 5K time of 20:55 – as they finished with six points.

Great Plains Lutheran (30) was second, Howard (33) third and Colman-Egan (37) fourth. Sioux Valley (70) took seventh.

Baltic’s Anastasia Wilkison was the individual runner-up in 21:52.

Flandreau’s Sinona Flute (21:53) and Hannah Parsley (22:11) placed third and fourth, respectively, to complete the Fliers’ team total.

Elizabeth Hursey (22:45) took sixth and Kathryn Parsley (23:36) 10th.

The Hawks’ Reese Luze was seventh in 22:53. Lake Preston’s Ashlyn DeKnikker ended up eighth with a 23:02 clocking.

Allison Jacobson took 20th in 25:18 to lead the Cossacks.
