Cossacks fall in BEC Tourney to Baltic, Beresford

VOLGA – The Sioux Valley volleyball team dropped two matches in the Big East Tournament Thursday night. The Cossacks fell three sets to one to Baltic and Beresford.

• Baltic 3, Sioux Valley 1

Baltic won the first two sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-14. Sioux Valley would then extend the match with a 25-17 win in the third set, but Baltic won the match after a 25-16 victory in set four.

Reagan Johnson led the Cossacks with seven kills and four digs. Ashley Bjerke had 10 assists and four kills. Kaedyn Sapp had five kills and four digs. Kasey Pistulka had 14 digs.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Sami Polzin who had nine kills and 16 digs. Elyssa Clark had 11 kills and seven digs. Jacie Wendland had 18 assists and Baily Teveldal had 15. Emma VanRegenmorter had eight kills.

• Beresford 3, Sioux Valley 1

The Watchdogs took the first set 25-15. Sioux Valley bounced back and took the second set 25-18. Baltic would then finish the match with a 25-19 win in the third set and a 25-20 win in the fourth set.

Johnson led the Cossacks with 18 kills and eight digs. Ashley Bjerke had 17 assists, nine digs and four kills. Kaedyn Sapp had six kills and six digs. Kasey Pistulka had 22 assists and Katie Richarz had 12. Adison Renkly had seven kills. 

The Watchdogs were led by Kara Niles who had 14 kills. Savanah Bard had 10 kills. Rachel Zanter had 29 digs and Autumn Namminga had 12. Larissa Tiedeman had 19 assists and 10 digs.

Chester Area swept Beresford and topped Baltic in five sets.
