Coyotes VB sweep Jackrabbits at Frost Arena

BROOKINGS – Summit League-leading South Dakota dropped South Dakota State 25-16, 25-15, 25-16 in a volleyball match Tuesday night at Frost Arena.

Elizabeth Juhnke finished with 14 kills, two blocks (one solo) and 10 digs to lead the Coyotes.

Maddie Wiedenfeld, who recorded 1 1/2 blocks, and Elizabeth Loschen, who had a block assist, both contributed eight kills. Sami Slaughter chipped in with six kills.

Madison Jurgens guided the offense with 38 set assists and Anne Rasmussen paced the defense with 18 digs.

The visitors hit .368, totaling 45 kills.

The Jackrabbits’ Makenzie Hennen had eight kills, a solo block and 11 digs.

Tori Thompson, who notched a solo block, and Crystal Burk both chipped in with six kills.

Maddie Fay (16) and Carly Wedel (eight) combined for 24 set assists. Tatum Pickar came up with 11 digs.

USD (16-1, 5-0) returns to action at North Dakota State on Friday at 7 p.m.

SDSU (4-13, 1-4) is host to North Dakota on Sunday at 1 p.m.
