BROOKINGS – A Brookings woman was taken by ambulance to Brookings Health System from the Sioux Valley School parking lot in Volga following a Sunday night accident near Lake Campbell, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident involving Jennifer Wagner, 41, and her 2019 GMC Yukon XL was reported at 10:09 p.m. and is believed to have occurred between 7 and 9 p.m. on 220th Street near 467th Avenue, according to the news release.

Wagner was driving west on 220th Street near 467th Avenue when her vehicle left the roadway on the north side and vaulted when it struck a field approach, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring wrote in the release. Wagner allegedly left the scene of the collision and eventually drove to Sioux Valley School. Once at the school parking lot, she was given treatment for her injuries and taken to the hospital.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the collision and charges are pending, Sebring reported, adding that the incident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.

Other responding agencies were the Volga Fire Department and Brookings Ambulance.
