VOLGA – The Brookings Cubs beat the Cormorants 18-0 in six innings in an amateur baseball game Sunday evening at Hoff Field.
Jared Tschetter hit a three-run homer and JaColby Anderson added a two-run shot as the Cubs scored six times in the fourth inning.
Todd Standish hit a grand slam to highlight a 12-run sixth frame.
Standish also had a run-scoring double and finished 2-for-3 with five RBIs
Seth Fraser, who doubled, Sam McMacken and Jake Devine each went 2-for-4. Anderson finished with three RBIs and Ty Schneider added two. Tschetter and Jeff Fish, who doubled, both scored three times.
Joey Texley threw five innings of one-hit ball, striking out four batters and walking one.
Marcus Heemstra tossed a 1-2-3 sixth with a pair of Ks.
Brookings (4-0) is host to the Milroy Yankees on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

COLMAN – Paul Clark, Tim Kuphal and Deon Entringer combined on a four-hit shutout as the Colman A’s defeated the Aurora A’s 3-0 on Sunday.
Clark gave up two hits and struck out four batters in six innings of work to pick up the win.
Kuphal allowed two hits and issued a walk as Aurora loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the seventh; however, he struck out the next three batters to get out of the jam.
Entringer retired all six batters he faced, including five by strikeout, to notch the save.
Entringer went 4-for-4 at the plate, highlighting Colman’s three-run third inning with a two-RBI double. He scored on Kuphal’s groundout.
Kuphal and Mike Preheim added two hits apiece.
Colman plays at Madison on Thursday.
