The Brookings Cubs went 1-1 in their final two games of the regular season this weekend.
They saw a 15-game winning streak come to an end on Friday when they lost to the Sioux Falls Brewers 11-6. They bounced back Sunday with 15-0 win over Baltic.

AURORA – The Cubs had a 3-2 lead after five innings, but gave up the lead and Sioux Falls hung onto the lead for good.
Sioux Falls scored a run in each the first and second inning and held Brookings scoreless in the first two innings. The Cubs got on the board in the bottom of the third inning. JaColby Anderson hit an RBI single to make it 3-1.
The Cubs struck for one run in each the fourth and fifth inning. Ty Schneider scored on an error in the fourth to tie the game and Jeff Fish hit a solo home run in the fifth to make it 3-2. Sioux Falls tied the game in the top of the sixth and held Brookings scoreless in the bottom of the inning.
The Brewers regained the lead in the top of the seventh and Brookings was unable to score in the bottom of the inning. Sioux Falls hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the eighth to make it 7-3.
Brookings responded with three runs in the bottom of the eighth. Jake Devine hit an RBI single to make it 7-4. Jacob Schoon scored on a ground out to make it 7-5 and Kruetner scored on an error to make it 7-6 heading into the final inning.
Sioux Falls scored four runs in the top of the ninth to put the game out of reach. Jake Devine went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Anderson went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Fish went 1-for-5 with an RBI. Anderson was awarded the loss after pitching the first seven innings. He gave up four runs, one earned on seven hits. He struck out eight batters and walked two.

COLTON – Brookings took a 4-0 lead in the first inning and didn’t look back. Baltic had just one hit as the Cubs got the victory in five innings via the 15-run rule.
Jared Tschetter led off the game with home run. Schneider then hit an RBI single. Sam McMacken scored on a wild pitch and Schneider scored on an error to make it 4-0 after one inning.
Neither team scored in the second inning, The Cubs struck for five runs in the third. Koenig hit a RBI single. Then Anderson and Fish hit back-to-back RBI singles. McMacken hit a sacrifice fly and Schneider hit a RBI single to make it 9-0.
Brookings scored five more runs in the fourth inning. Jeff Fish hit a two-run double. McMacken then hit a three-run home run to make it 14-0. The Cubs scored one more run in the fifth on a Fish single. Baltic was unable to score in the bottom of the fifth and the game ended.
Fish went 4-for-5 with four RBI’s and McMacken went 2-for-2 with four RBI’s. Schneider went 3-for-5 with two RBI’s and Tschetter went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Tanner Shepardson pitched all five innings for the Cubs and only gave up one hit. He struck out six batters and walked two.
The Cubs will play in the regional tournament this weekend.
