Cubs win by forfeit; Fan Appreciation Night moved to Monday

BROOKINGS – The Cubs won their Sioux Empire League amateur baseball matchup with the Valley Springs Valley Rats via forfeit on Thursday.

Brookings (18-3, 7-2) plays host to Vermillion on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

Fan Appreciation Night was moved to Monday, when the Cubs take on the Castlewood Ravens at 8 p.m.

While supplies last, attending fans can enjoy free root beer floats on Monday. Additionally, the Cubs will be finalizing their fundraiser raffle and will draw for prizes during the game.

Brookings closes out the regular season playing host to Renner on Friday, July 21, at 7:30 p.m. and the Milroy Yankees on Saturday, July 22, at 7:30 p.m. District play is the last weekend in July in Castlewood.

Admission to all Cubs home games is just $5, with all children age 17 and under getting in for free.

Concessions will be available for all home games, with special thanks to the Friends of Brookings Baseball for providing game-day operation of the concession stand, as well as Schoon’s Pump n’ Pak and Foerster Distributing for providing supplies for the root beer floats.
