SIOUX FALLS – Girl Scouts-Dakota Horizons announced that Wendy Dailey from Brookings has received the Girl Scout USA Volunteer of Excellence Award.

The Volunteer of Excellence Award recognizes volunteers who have contributed outstanding service in support of the council’s mission delivery to girl and adult members.

Recipients are nominated by fellow volunteers, girls or council staff.

The award is approved by the Girl Scouts-Dakota Horizons Volunteer Recognition Council.  According to a GS release, “A Girl Scout vbolunteer for 10 years, Wendy is a great advocate for Girl Scouts, demonstrating what it means to be a sister to every Girl Scout in her everyday life. She also plans programs, assists with meeting preparation and badge planning, leads meetings, and supports the fall product and cookie programs.”

“I love the women that I get to work with as Girl Scouts leaders. I am so proud of what we have been able to accomplish as a Service Unit, and I am humbled that they nominated me for this award,” Dailey said.

Dailey currently serves as a troop co-leader, troop cookie program coordinator and service unit manager. She will be recognized for her award at the council’s Honoring Excellence event on June 11.
