BROOKINGS – Tickets will be available at 8 a.m. Tuesday for the April 15 Daschle Dialogues lecture at the Larson Memorial Concert Hall in the Performing Arts Center at South Dakota State University. While the event is free and open to the public, a ticket is required for admission. Tickets are only available online at https://www.sdstate.edu/daschle-study/2019-daschle-dialogues and individuals can order up to four tickets.

Doris Kearns Goodwin, a world-renowned presidential historian, public speaker and Pulitzer Prize-winning, New York Times No. 1 best-selling author, is this year’s featured guest.

Goodwin’s seventh book, “Leadership: In Turbulent Times,” was published in September 2018 to critical acclaim and became an instant New York Times best-seller. A culmination of Goodwin’s five-decade career of studying the American presidents focusing on Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Lyndon Baines Johnson, the book provides an accessible and essential road map for aspiring and established leaders in every field and for all of us in our everyday lives.

Daschle Dialogues is the public series of the Sen. Thomas A. Daschle Congressional Research Study. Daschle, a 1969 SDSU graduate, selected South Dakota State to preserve his official papers and items from his 26-year career in Congress. He was the Senate Democratic Leader from 1995 to 2005, including time as both majority and minority leader. Daschle’s papers have been the basis for research by South Dakota State University faculty, scholars and students.

Daschle’s previous guests are former Senate Republican Leader Trent Lott, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and NBC broadcaster and author Tom Brokaw.
