SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota State’s Mike Daum collected his seventh Summit League  Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award of the season, announced Monday by the league office.

Daum, who claimed the award for the second consecutive time, tied his own single-season record (shared with Nate Wolters, 2012-13) for most weekly honors in a year.

He already holds the Summit League’s career record for most weekly awards with 18.

The Kimball, Neb., native averaged a monster double-double of 31.5 points and 16.5 rebounds over two games last week, helping the Jackrabbits go 2-0 and gain sole possession of first place in the league standings at the halfway point of conference play,

Daum had 30 points and 17 rebounds in an 87-69 defeat of North Dakota State on Thursday and followed with a 33-point, 16-board performance during an 83-73 win over Omaha on Saturday.

He rose to No. 17 on the NCAA Division I all-time scoring chart, passing Campbell senior Chris Clemons, Duke’s J.J. Redick and Tennessee’s Alan Houston.

The 6-foot-9 senior, now with 2,803 career points, has tallied 30 or points and 15-plus rebounds in three consecutive games, becoming the first player in more than 20 years to do so, according to StatsbySTATs on Twitter.

The Jackrabbit big man was also selected as the Lute Olson Award National Player of the Week by CollegeInsider and the College Sports Madness Mid-Major National Player of the Week.

Daum is second in Summit League and SDSU history with 1,112 career rebounds. He needs 78 to break the conference record and 21 to break the school mark.

The Jackrabbits (17-6, 7-1) hit the road this week for a pair of contests, traveling to Tulsa, Okla., to face Oral Roberts on Thursday at 7 p.m. before taking on Denver on Sunday at 2 p.m.
