David Dean Sanderson, 63, of Aurora, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, after fighting a short battle with a brain tumor, at the family farm in Aurora, surrounded by his family and under Home Hospice care.

A memorial service  is at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Abundant Life Church in Brookings.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.  Rude’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

David was born Feb. 7, 1953, in Brookings,  the oldest child of Dean and Mary Sanderson.  He attended the Children's Care Hospital and School in Sioux Falls, Aurora and Brookings Public Schools, graduating in 1972. He enjoyed life on the family farm working alongside his father and brother, Alan.

David was clear about his personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of Abundant Life Church.  He didn't have all the answers and would often pose difficult questions for all of us to ponder.  He was ready to go to heaven to receive his new body and to meet up again with Dad.

David had a great sense of humor and a quick wit.  He enjoyed the Beatles, classical music, old movies, W.C. Fields, Charlie Chaplin, educational TV and CNN.

David is survived by his mother, Mary (Bullis) Sanderson of Aurora; siblings, Alan (Diana) Sanderson of Aurora, Abe (Lori) Sanderson of Temple City, Calif., Melanie (David) Dancler of Sioux Falls and Sandra (Clarence) Mends of Columbia, Mo.; along with many nephews and nieces.

David was preceded in death by his father, Darrel Dean Sanderson.
