DeBeer named Coach of the Year

RAPID CITY – Deubrook Area’s Rachelle DeBeer was named South Dakota Track and Field Girls’ Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Dolphins won the Class B state title for the third consecutive season.

They won the 4x800-meter relay for the fourth year in a row and defended their title in the 4x400-meter relay.

Deubrook also picked up event wins in the 300-meter hurdles and triple jump, as Shaylee DeBeer was named Field MVP at the state meet.

Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Jim Jarovski was named Boys’ Coach of the Year.

DeBeer, who just completed her ninth season with the Dolphins, and Jarovski are now up for national Coach of the Year honors.
