MADISON – Dakota State women’s basketball coach David Moe and women’s track and field coach Anthony Drealan are excited to announce the National Letter-of-Intent signing by Shaylee DeBeer. She will graduate from Deubrook Area High School this coming spring and plans to continue her education and athletic career with the Trojans.

DeBeer will be playing women’s basketball and competing in track & field at DSU starting in the 2019-20 academic year.

She averaged 16 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and two steals per game for the Dolphins last season. She was named to the All-Dakota Valley Conference first team.

She clocked personal best times of 26.2 seconds in the 200-meter dash, 59 seconds in the 400-meter dash, and 2:22.72 in the 800-meter run. She also posted a personal-best leap of 36 feet, 1/2 inch in the triple jump.

DeBeer is a four-time state champion at Deubrook. She also played volleyball and runs cross country this fall.

At the 2018 Class B State Track and Field Meet she was a member of the winning 3,200-meter and 1,600-meter relay teams. In addition, she placed second in the 800-meter run and fourth in triple jump.

Shaylee is the daughter of Brad and Rachelle (Lengkeek) DeBeer of White. Her mother ran track at Dakota State and is still on DSU’s top 10 marks in various events. Her pentathlon and outdoor 1,600-meter relay school record marks are still intact today. Her father is also an alumnus at DSU.
