ELKTON – Dell Rapids swept the team titles at the Vince Relays on Saturday.

Boys

The Quarriers racked up 149 points while Oldham-Ramona/ Rutland (85) was second, followed by Lake Preston (68) in third. Sioux Valley (57.5) took sixth, host Elkton-Lake Benton (53.5) eighth and Flandreau (41) 10th.

The Raiders thrived in the distance events, putting two runners in the top five in both the 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters.

Casey Renaas was tops in the 1,600 with a time of 5 minutes, 12.77 seconds and Connor Spilde won the 3,200 with an 11:23.91 clocking.

ORR won the 4x800-meter relay in 9:30.29.

Bennet Trygstad was runner-up in both the shot put (45 feet, 3 1/2 inches) and discus (135-9). Isaac Hegdahl placed second in the 110-meter hurdles in 18.83.

The Divers’ Brock Bumann swept the hurdles events, winning the 110 in 17.57 seconds and the 300 in 43.52 seconds.

Lake Preston won the 4x400 relay in 3:53.86.

Stetson Eschenbaum finished second in the 400 (55.35) and Rhett McMasters matched that finish in the 1,600 (5:17.74).

The Cossacks’ Nick Strasburg took second in the triple jump with a mark of 39-1 3/4.

The Fliers’ Gabe Bird was runner-up in the 800 with a 2:21.35 clocking.

Girls

Dell Rapids finished with 129 team points, while Lakeview was second at 104.5. Sioux Valley (98) ended up third, Flandreau (72) fifth, Lake Preston (58.5) sixth, Elkton-Lake Benton (27) ninth and Oldham-Ramona/Rutland (12) 11th.

The Cossacks won three events.

Nikole Ziegler cleared 5 feet, 2 inches to claim the high jump title.

Lynsey Stevens was tops in the long jump with a mark of 15-3 1/4.

Taylor Jung won the discus with a throw of 93-6.

The Fliers won four events, including the 4x100 (55.13) and 4x200 (1:55.18) relays.

Madeline Hursey won the 1,600 (5:53.43) and was runner-up in the 800 (2:38.61). Ashtyn Bertram was victorious in the 100 in 13.45.

Karley DeKnikker paced the Divers by winning the 100 hurdles (16.77) and 300 hurdles (49.73).

Rylie Brown sprinted past the field in the 200, posting a time of 27.01.

Lake Preston took the medley relay crown in 4:38.5.
