BROOKINGS – The focus will be on young Democrats during a rally and ice cream social co-sponsored by the Brookings County Democrats and the SDSU College Democrats Sunday, Sept. 26, beginning at 3 p.m. in Pioneer Park.
A panel discussion with Brianna Doran and Cassie Juba; Cole Peterson, president of the SDSU Democrats; Addison Miller, head of the Young Democrats of South Dakota; and moderated by Berk Ehrmantraut, new executive director of the South Dakota Democratic Party, will highlight the program, which begins at 3:30 p.m.
“We are actively recruiting young Democrats to run for public office and become volunteers for the Brookings County Democrats,” Mary Perpich, chair of the organization, said. “Young people have run for local and statewide public office in the past few years in Brookings and their energy and unique political perspective are crucial to the future of the city and the state.”
In addition to the panel, former S.D. Rep. Spence Hawley will talk about fundraising. Brookings City Council and Brookings School Board members will be recognized.
The event is free and open to the public, and SDSU ice cream will be served.
