PIERRE (AP) – A new government watchdog board that has the power to investigate statewide officeholders and executive branch employees has received its first complaint.
A spokeswoman for the state Attorney General's office said Tuesday that the complaint was filed July 26.
But Attorney General spokeswoman Sara Rabern says details including the person who filed the complaint, whom it was filed against and its substance currently aren't public information.
Draft meeting minutes show the State Government Accountability Board entered into executive session to discuss the complaint at a September meeting. The minutes say the four-member panel decided to delay action.
The board of former judges that lawmakers approved this year took effect July 1. It can investigate a range of allegations including bribery and theft of public funds. The panel's next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 16.
