IPSWICH – In what could be a preview of the upcoming battle for the team title at this season’s Class B State Track and Field Meet, host Ipswich held off Deubrook Area, 125-107, to claim the team crown at Saturday’s Tiger Relays.

On the boys’ side, Webster Area edged the field with 60 points as the Tigers tied for second with Warner at 57 points. The Dolphin boys totaled seven points to place 22nd as they finished fourth in the 4x800 relay and seventh in the 4x400 relay. Mason Ramlo, Treven Grimsrud, David Quail and Chris Landmark teamed in the 4x800 to cross in 9 minutes, 19.93 seconds while Jacob Johnson joined Quail, Grimsrud and Ramlo for a time of 4:04.39 in the 4x400.

The Dolphin girls’ foursome of Shaylee DeBeer, Andrea Vandermeer, Josie Olsen and Cortney Bauman won the 4x800 relay with a state-qualifying time of 10:18.63, and then, Ashley Vandermeer joined Bauman, Olsen and DeBeer to win the Medley relay in 4:38.13.

Ashley Vandermeer won the long jump with a state-qualifying leap of 17 feet, 3 1/2 inches, while DeBeer placed fifth (15-7.5) and Trixie Jo Schlechter was sixth (15-6.5) as they met the qualifying standard, as well.

Olsen won the 3,200-meter run in 12:11.25 as Andrea Vandermeer placed fourth in 13:03.07.

DeBeer clocked a 1:04.49 for second in the open 400 while Ashley Vandermeer was fifth in 1:06.06.

Joeve Krier added a second-place finish in the 800 with a 2:44.55 as Ellie Olsen placed fourth in 2:47.19.

Ellie Olsen finished third in the 1,600 in 6:16.96, while Andrea Vandermeer was fifth in 6:21.46 and Krier placed seventh in 6:23.22.

Bauman placed fourth in the 300 hurdles in 52.12 seconds.

Schlechter, Krier, Ashley Vandermeer and Ellie Olsen teamed to place fourth in the 4x400 in 4:38.21.
