BROOKINGS – The Deubrook Area girls and Sioux Falls Christian boys picked up team titles during the Scott Underwood Invite on Monday at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
Girls
Deubrook totaled 81 team points. Chamberlain (69.5) was second and Hamlin (55) third.
Estelline (50.5) finished fifth, Lake Preston (36) seventh, Sioux Valley (31) ninth, Flandreau (23) 11th and Arlington (six) 15th.
The defending Class B state-champion Dolphins had a few standout performances.
Ashley Vandermeer won the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 11 inches and the triple jump with a mark of 34 feet. She was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 27.72 seconds.
Shaylee DeBeer, Cortney Bauman, Josie Olsen and Vandermeer teamed to win the 4x400-meter relay with a 4:18.48 clocking.
DeBeer, Joeve Krier, Olsen and Bauman were victorious in the 4x800 with a time of 10:21.44.
Olsen placed second in both the 1,600 (5:37.56) and 800 (2:30.25).
DeBeer added a second-place finish in the triple jump (33-10) and a third-place showing in the 800 (2:30.94).
Bauman ended up third in the 300-meter hurdles in 52.61 seconds.
Estelline’s Sophie Johnson had a unique two-win day, taking first in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.18 seconds and the pole vault after clearing 9 feet, 10 inches. She was fourth in the triple jump at 32-1.
Greta Johnson (8-10) was third in the pole vault and Christine Nefzger (8-4) ended up fifth. Johnson added a sixth-place showing in the 100 hurdles (18.31).
In the shot put, Kaitlyn Hawley (32-10) ended up fifth and Tiffany Vohlken (32-5) was sixth.
Kylie Beare tied for sixth in the long jump (14-7) and finished eighth in the triple jump (30-1).
The Lady Redmen were eighth in the 4x100 (55.73) and 4x800 (11:50).
The Divers’ Rylie Brown won the 200 in 26.91 seconds and was runner-up in the 100 (13.06).
Ashley Neely, Lindsay Hillestad, Madison Perkins and Brown were second in the 4x100 in 53.86.
Ashlyn DeKnikker took fourth in the 1,600 (5:42.96) and sixth in the 800 (2:36.22). Madison Curd finished seventh in the 3,200 (13:46.83).
Lynsey Stevens paced the Cossacks with three top-four finishes.
She was third in both the long jump (15-0) and triple jump (33-9), while taking fourth in the high jump (5-0).
Nikole Ziegler placed second in the high jump, also at 5 feet – the winning height. She was eighth in the long jump (14-6).
Baylea Lucas ended up sixth in the 300 hurdles (53.34) and seventh in the 100 hurdles (18.7).
The Fliers’ Madeline Hursey placed fifth in the 3,200 (13:01.78) and eighth in the 1,600 (5:51.34).
Hannah Parsley crossed fourth in the 400 in 1:05.83 and Ashtyn Bertram matched that finish in the 100 with a 13.24 clocking. Mara Lunday took eighth in the 800 (2:44.09).
Flandreau was fourth in the 4x100 (54.42) and seventh in the 4x400 (4:30.27).
Arlington’s Tanley Goebel was fifth in the 400 (1:05.99). The Cardinals finished seventh in the 4x800 (11:43.29).
Boys
Sioux Falls Christian racked up 144.5 points to cruise past the competition. Dell Rapids (48) was second and Hamlin (45) third.
Elkton-Lake Benton (15) ended up 10th, Sioux Valley (14) 11th, Lake Preston (10) 15th, Deubrook Area (four) 17th, Flandreau (three) and Estelline (three) tied for 18th, and Arlington (one) 20th.
The Divers’ Rhett McMasters won the 3,200 meters by nearly 12 seconds with a time of 11:03.6.
The Elks recorded a trio of fourth-place finishes – Taryn Krog in the long jump (18-3), Hunter Nielson in the pole vault (10-0) and Miles Harming in the 3,200 (11:29.11).
Sioux Valley’s Ryan Schuster ended up fifth in the triple jump at 37-5.
Chase Ringheimer, Daymein Lucas, Tyler Schwartz and Noah Puetz placed fifth in the 4x100 with a 47.52 clocking.
Lane VanderWal took sixth in the triple jump (36-5) and Brennan Stoltenberg was seventh in the shot put (41-2 3/4). The Cossacks ended up eighth in the 4x400 (3:55.68).
In the pole vault, Estelline’s Marcis Hausman (9-6) ended up seventh and teammate Harrison Wegner (9-0) was eighth.
The Dolphins’ Clayton Koppatschek placed eighth in the 400 (56.12) and Flandreau’s Gabe Hobbie matched that finish in the 3,200 (12:07.75).
Deubrook was sixth in the 4x800 (9:29.41), Flandreau took seventh in the 4x400 (3:54.06) and Arlington ended up eighth in the 4x100 (48.36).
