Deubrook Area sits in third place at Class B

WATERTOWN – Burke/South Central opened with a team score of 263 on Monday to grab a five-shot advantage in the Class B State Girls’ Golf Tournament at Prairie Winds.

The Cougars placed second each of the past four seasons.

Howard is second at 268.

Four-time defending champion Deubrook Area sits in third following a 274 in the first round. Flandreau (289) is fourth.

BSC’s Tressa Bull and Howard’s Maddie Palmquist are tied for the individual lead at 12-over-par 84.

BSC’s Taylee Indahl carded an 85 and is in third.

Defending-champion Courtni Frank, a junior for the Dolphins, and Howard’s Jordan Glanzer are tied for fourth with matching 88s.

The Cougars’ third score came from Emily Stukel, who shot 94 and is tied for 12th.

Rounding out the Tigers’ team tally was Cassidy Gossmire (96), who sits in a tie for 15th.

Deubrook’s Maci Colberg and Mattie Nepodal are tied for ninth at 93 as they completed the Dolphins Day 1 team tally. Shelby Andrews (99) is tied for 24th.

Keva Burshiem paced the Fliers with a 92. She is in eighth place. Grace Johanson (96) is tied for 15th and Alaina Cloud (101) is tied for 32nd.
