VOLGA – Deubrook Area won the girls’ team title and Chester Area edged the host Cossacks on the boys’ side at the Sioux Valley Invite on Tuesday.
Girls
The Dolphins finished with 128 team points, while Hamlin (117) was second and Chester (110) third.
Shaylee DeBeer won two individual events and was on a pair of two first-place relay teams.
She was tops in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 16.3 seconds and the 800-meter run with a 2:28.1 clocking.
Trixie Jo Schlechter, Cortney Bauman, DeBeer and Ashley Vandermeer placed first in the 4x200-meter relay in 1:49.9.
DeBeer, Vandermeer, Josie Olsen and Bauman crossed first in the 4x400 with a time of 4:17.8.
Olsen was victorious in the 1,600 in 5:32.1 and finished second in the 800, just behind DeBeer with a 2:28.6 clocking. Bauman finished third in the 800 (2:29.8) and was second in the triple jump with a mark of 31 feet, 10 3/4 inches.
Flandreau ended up fourth in the team standings with 82 points.
The Fliers’ Hannah Parsley won the 400-meter dash in 1:02.5. Teammate Madeline Hursey prevailed in the 3,200 in 12:33.1 and was runner-up in the 1,600 (5:39.6).
Sioux Valley, Lake Preston and De Smet tied for fifth with 71 team points apiece.
The Cossacks had a pair of top performers in the field.
Lynsey Stevens’ mark of 34-5 was good for a victory in the long jump. Nikole Ziegler cleared 4-10 to take the high jump title.
For the Divers, Rylie Brown placed first in the 100 in 13 seconds and second in the 200 in 26.9 seconds. Karley DeKnikker won the 300-meter hurdles in 50.6.
Lexis Curry, Ashley Neely, Lindsay Hillestad and Ashlyn DeKnikker won the medley relay in 4:42.
There were a pair of double winners – Chester Area’s Josie Wolf in the 200 (26.4) and long jump (16-8), and Hamlin’s Faith Leiseth in the shot put (35-9 3/4) and discus (114-6).
Boys
The Flyers totaled 124 team points, while the second-place Cossacks had 121.
The Dolphins (67) finished fourth, the Divers (64) fifth, the Fliers (56) sixth and Oldham-Ramona/Rutland (45) eighth.
The Sioux Valley quartet of Tayt Vincent, Max Nielson, Christian Rosa-Landin and Ryan Schuster won the 4x800 relay in 9:12.2.
Deubrook’s Ryan Berndt went 19-11 to win the long jump.
Lake Preston’s Brock Bumann finished the 300 hurdles in 42.8 to take first.
Taylor Hillestad, Brock Bumann, Byron Bumann and Stetson Eschenbaum won the medley relay with a 3:58.1 clocking.
The Raiders’ Bennet Trygstad was tops in the shot put with a heave of 48-4 1/2.
Chester Area’s Levi DeVries was a double winner, taking the 110 hurdles (16.1) and triple jump (41-0).
