Deubrook girls, Colman-Egan boys win DVC crowns

ESTELLINE – The Deubrook Area girls and Colman-Egan boys picked up team titles at the Dakota Valley Conference Track and Field Meet on Thursday.

Girls

The Dolphins racked up 192 team points to win.

Estelline/Hendricks (158.5) was second and Colman-Egan (87.5) finished third. Lake Preston (59) was fifth, Arlington (48.5) sixth, Elkton-Lake Benton (33) eighth and Oldham-Ramona/Rutland (six) 10th.

Ashley Vandermeer led the way for Deubrook.

The junior won the 200-meter dash in 25.72 seconds. She added victories in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 1 1/2 inches and the triple jump with a mark of 36-1 3/4. Vandermeer added a second-place showing in the 400 in 1:02.09.

Josie Olsen won the 800 in 2:29.66 and the 1,600 with a 5:25.56 clocking.

Andrea Vandermeer placed first in the 3,200 in a time of 12:38.75. Cortney Bauman matched that finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.28 and took second in the 300-meter hurdles (50.16).

Shaylee Debeer was runner-up in both the 800 (2:30.62) and triple juimp (35-0 1/4). Ellie Olsen took third in the 3,200 (13:26.01).

Bauman, DeBeer, Joeve Krier and Josie Olsen won the 4x400-meter relay by more than 11 seconds with a time of 4:17.88. Abbie Hulsebus, Krier, Ellie Olsen and Andrea Vandermeer prevailed in the 4x800 with a 10:51.93 clocking – more that 14 seconds ahead of second place.

Estelline/Hendricks swept the top three spots in the pole vault, as Greta Johnson and Sophie Johnson tied for first by clearing 9-9. Christine Nefzger (8-3) took third.

Katelyn Hawley won the shot put with a mark of 35-4.

Tiffany Vohlken placed second in both the shot put (33-7) and discus (119-6). Greta Johnson finished second in the long jump (15-4) and Kaylee Johnson tied for second in the high jump (4-8) while also finishing third in the 1,600 in 5:58.24.

Kylie Beare finished second in the long jump (15-0 1/2) and triple jump (32-9). Sophie Johnson crossed in third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.46.

The Hawks’ Josie Mousel was tops in the high jump, clearing 4-10.

Reese Luze was runner-up in the 1,600 (5:26.03) and 3,200 (12:55.83), and added a third-place showing in the 800 (2:31.92).

Mackenzie Hemmer took second in the 100 hurdles (16.61) and Kandace Landis finished third in the 300 hurdles (51.86).

Rylie Brown had a solid day for the Divers.

She won the 100-meter dash with a 12.88 clocking and was runner-up in the 200 in 26.38.

Brown, Lindsay Hillestad, Ashley Neely and Madison Perkins were first in the 4x100 in 54.2. Brown, Ashlyn DeKnikker, Hillestad and Neely won the 4x200 with a time of 1:52.71.

Lake Preston also placed first in the medley relay as DeKnikker, Hillestad, Neely and Marissa Rober posted a time of 4:37.84.

Arlington’s Tanley Goebel ended up third in the 400 with a time of 1:05.77.

Boys

The Hawks took the top spot with 126 points as Elkton-Lake Benton (105) came in second.

Deubrook Area (88) ended up fourth, Estelline/Hendricks (61) seventh, Arlington (42) eighth, Lake Preston (35) ninth and Oldham-Ramona/Rutland (27) 10th.

Kade Groos highlighted Colman-Egan’s day with three individual victories.

He swept the sprints, taking the 100 meters in 11.15 seconds, the 200 in 22.49 and the 400 with a 52.72 clocking.

He teamed with Eli Bowen, Bodee Groos and Ryan Voelker to take the 4x200 relay title in 1:36.05. Bowen, Bodee Groos, Nate Tolley and Voelker won the 4x100 in 48.49.

Bodee Groos added a runner-up showing in the 300-meter hurdles in 43.78. Alec Landis took second in the shot with put of 45-1 3/4.

Placing third were Ryan Voelker in the 110 hurdles (17.22), Nate Tolley in the triple jump (36-10 3/4) and Dalton Voelker in the shot put (43-11).

The Elks’ quartet of Grant DeRuyter, Aiden Erickson, Isaac Jaacks and Bryson Sik placed first in the 4x400 relay in 3:57.52.

DeRuyter took second in both the 800 (2:14.65) and high jump (5-8), and finished third in the 400 (55.96). Hunter Nielsen added runner-up finishes in the 110 hurdles (17.16) and pole vault (10-6).

Jacob Johnson paced the Dolphins by sweep the hurdles, winning the 110-meter event in 16.62 seconds and the 300 meters with a 43.74 clocking.

Clayton Koppatschek won the triple jump with a mark of 38-6 1/2, placed second in the 100 in 11.31 and came in in third in the 200 with a time of 24.07.

Estelline/Hendricks’ Riley Benning was runner-up in the 1,600 (4:55.53) and teammate Zach Loomis finished third in the 100 (11.8).

Arlington’s Will Parry finished third in the 800 (2:16.73) and Nick Kersting matched that finish in the pole vault (10-0).

Placing third for the Divers were Jasper Denison in the high jump (5-4) and Byron Bumann in the discus (118-6).

The Raiders’ Jack Olson, Peyton Roti, Connor Spilde and Casey Renaas placed first in the 4x800-meter relay in a time of 9:15.58.
