Deubrook girls win fourth straight title

The Dolphins made it four Class B team titles in a row as sophomore Courtni Frank led Deubrook Area by capturing the individual title, as well, at Prairie Green Golf Course on Tuesday.

Frank, who came into the final round with a two-stroke edge, extended her lead by a shot to finish with a two-day total of 151, three strokes ahead of Baltic’s Chantel Brende, the defending medalist.

The Dolphins totaled 502 strokes as a team, to beat Burke/South Central by seven strokes as Hill City finished a distant third with a 537. Flandreau carded a 592 to place sixth.

Caitlyn Christianson tied for seventh with a 171 while Maci Colberg rounded out Deubrook’s team scoring with a 180, which was good for a 14th-place tie. Mattie Nepodal tied for 36th with a two-day total of 200.

Grace Johansen’s 195 led the Fliers and placed her in a three-way tie for 28th as Keva Bursheim was a stroke back at 196 in a four-way tie for 31st. Alaina Cloud’s 201 tiedher for 38th and rounded out Flandreau’s team score.

CLASS B BOYS

HARRISBURG – Colman-Egan came into the final round in third place and that’s where the Hawks ended after carding a two-day total of 483 strokes as Aberdeen Christian won the team title with a 468, followed by Ipswich with a 473 on Tuesday at Spring Creek Country Club.

Bon Homme’s Alec Johnson took medalist honors with a 138 as the Knights’ Judah Aderhold finished second with a 142. Hamlin’s Devan Weelborg placed third with a 153 and Colman-Egan’s Kade Groos was a stroke back in fourth.

Mason Hemmer carded a 161 to tie for 17th while Bodee Groos finished 38th with a 170 to close out the Hawks’ team score. Chandler Gullickson was 67th with a 186.

Haydn Gilbertson led Arlington-Lake Preston to a 12th-place finish of 525 as the senior tied for 22nd with a 163. Scott Sampson fired a 172 to tie for 39th and Trey Ramsted rounded out the Badgers’ team total with a 192 – good for a 79th-place tie. Will Parry tied for 85th with a 195.

The Dolphins placed 14th with a 535, led by Jack Bandmer’s 173 – a 42nd-place tie. Nick Olson tied for 45th with a 175 as Nash Colberg placed 68th with a 187.

Individually, Elkton-Lake Benton’s Caleb Wiskur shot a 181 to tie for 60th and Flandreau’s Dawson Blum placed 63rd with a 183.

CLASS AA GIRLS

HURON – Sioux Falls O’Gorman cruised to the team title at Broadland Creek Golf Course as the Lady Knights shot a 611 to Aberdeen Central’s second-place total of 652. Brookings moved up a spot to finish 14th with an 806.

OG’s Emily Olson and Carly Kunkel went 1-2 in the individual race as Olson edged her teammate, 146-149.

Brooke Piearson paced the Bobcats with an eighth-place total of 158. Nicole Steen tied for 58th with a 197 while Shaylee Kuehl carded a 209 to tie for 72nd. Macy Fields finished with a 245 (87th) to close out the ‘Cats’ team total as Ashton Austreim placed 89th with a 251.

CLASS A GIRLS

HARTFORD – Canton pulled away from Lennox in Tuesday’s final round at the Central Valley Golf Club as the C-Hawks totaled a 724 to the Orioles’ second-place 732.

Sioux Falls Christian’s Kate Wynja rallied card a 156 to take individual honors by a stroke over West Central’s Lauryn Driscoll and Jade Burr of Belle Fourche.

Sioux Valley’s Rachel Cotton tied for 49th with a 201.
