Deubrook sweeps team titles at Sioux Valley Invitational

VOLGA – Deubrook Area swept the team titles at the Sioux Valley Invitational on Monday morning at Meadow Creek.

The Region 1A Girls’ Golf Tournament is Monday at Rocky Run in Dell Rapids.

The Region 2B Girls’ and Boys’ Golf Tournaments are Tuesday, May 22, at Edgebrook.

Girls

Deubrook and Howard both shot 266, but the Dolphins won the tiebreaker. De Smet (295) was third, Flandreau (318) fourth and Garretson (322) fifth.

Scoring four golfers, McCook Central/Montrose had a 356 total and Sioux Valley a 430.

The Fighting Cougars’ Katie Reif fired a 10-over-par 82 to take home titleist honors. The Tigers’ Maddie Palmquist was runner-up with an 84.

The Fliers got an 86 from Keva Burshiem as she placed third.

Deubrook’s Courtni Frank (86) and Shelby Andrews (88) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Maci Colberg shot 92 and placed ninth to complete the team tally. Mattie Nepodal (93) ended up 10th.

Rounding out Flandreau’s team score, Alaina Cloud shot 101 and Marley Barboza 131. Grace Johanson, one of the squad’s top players, withdrew after nine holes.

The host Cossacks’ Julia Steffensen shot 99 and placed 15th.

Ellie Schmidt added a 109, Taylor Moir a 110 and Perri Liedtke a 112 to complete the team score.

Also for Sioux Valley, Abby Klocker shot 113 and Madisyn Christensen 119.

Boys

The Dolphins swept the top three spots individually to win the team title with a 244 total.

Chester Area (264) was second and De Smet (267) third.

Colman-Egan (298) ended up fourth, Flandreau (313) fifth and Lake Preston (329) seventh.

Jack Bandemer earned medalist honors with an 8-over 80.

Nick Olson and Kobey Landmark both shot 82 to take second and third, respectively, while completing Deubrook’s team score.

Chester’s Chase McDonald (83) finished fourth. Deubrook’s Nash Colberg carded an 85 to round out the top five.

Chandler Gullickson led the Hawks with an 89, putting him in ninth. Nate Tolley carded a 98 and Nick Whitehouse a 111.

Devon Burggraff fired the Fliers’ low score, 93, as he finished 12th. Tanner Christensen  and Bradley Heinemann both shot 110.

The Divers’ Nick Curd took 15th with a 97. Colby Olson shot 114 and Austin Strande 118.

Elkton-Lake Benton’s Caleb Wiskur placed 10th after a round of 90.
