WATERTOWN – State Rep. Fred Deutsch (R-Florence) announced he is seeking another term in the South Dakota State House representing District 4.

District 4 includes Grant, Deuel, rural Codington and rural Brookings counties.

“Serving South Dakotans in District 4 at the Statehouse has been the honor of a lifetime, and I sincerely hope to continue for another term,” Deutsch said. “I’m truly grateful for this opportunity and the trust that has been placed in me and proud of what we have been able to accomplish over the last several years.

“During the 2019 Session I championed pro-life bills to protect the unborn, sponsored legislation to expand adoption so more South Dakota families could adopt children, and worked with my colleagues to get important efforts to the governor’s desk, including work to get critically needed funding to support our state’s nursing homes.”

“This session I’m working on a variety of legislation including bills regarding human trafficking, mental health, and critical needs in education.”

First elected to the State House in 2014, Deutsch serves on the Military and Veterans Affairs Committee, the Health and Human Services Committee, and the Education Committee.

Prior to serving in the Legislature, Deutsch served nine years as a Watertown School Board member.

A 37-year practicing chiropractor, Deutsch is active in his church and community. He and his wife Kathleen, also a chiropractor, have worked together running Deutsch Chiropractic since the early 1980s. Together they have four children, five grandchildren, and one on the way. They reside in rural Florence.
