BROOKINGS – Someone broke into the soap dispensers at Sexauer Park, damaging one, and then stole the soap, according to Brookings Police.

The incident was reported at 6:39 p.m. Sunday and occurred in the 100 block of West 10th Street, Lt. Marci Gebers said.

“The reporting party said that (the dispensers) were fine as of 11 a.m., so sometime between those hours is when this would have occurred,” she said.

“Four different dispensers that had been vandalized and the soap had been stolen,” Gebers said.

“Just one was damaged, the other ones had just been opened,” she added.

There was no damage estimate for the dispensers and no value on the soap, Gebers said.

She asked that if anyone at Sexauer Park during that time saw any suspicious activity, to please report it to the BPD.
