BROOKINGS – Aberdeen Central’s Jonah Dohrer went deep to win the Brookings Invitational on Monday, firing a 5-under-par 67 at Brookings Country Club.
The senior made eight birdies, including a four-bagger on Nos. 4-7. He had nine-hole scores of 31 and 36.
Sioux Falls O’Gorman cruised to the team title with an even-par 288 total. The Golden Eagles were second at 303, followed by Sioux Falls Washington (307) in third, Pierre (315) in fourth and Watertown (321) in fifth.
The host Bobcats shot 346 and ended up 11th.
The Knights’ Bryce Hammer (35-34) and the Arrows’ Sam Batta (34-35) tied for second individually following rounds of 69.
Hammer eagled the par-5 14th and added a pair of birdies, while Batta notched four birds.
OG’s Blake Dornbusch carded a 72 (34-38) to place fourth. He eagled No. 1 and had three birdies.
The Knights’ Michael Statz (36-37) and the Governors’ Austin Hoss (34-39) tied for fifth with 73s.
O’Gorman’s Justin Kolb and Sam Sutcliffe, and Sioux Falls Washington’s Hank Eggebraaten tied for seventh at 74. Yankton’s Michael Frick, Aberdeen Central’s Bennett Lundy and Washington’s Will Grevlos tied for 10th at 75.
Landon Moe paced Brookings with an 85, putting him in a tie for 38th. Trevor Berreth tied for 44th after a round of 86. Drew Cole (87) tied for 49th; Ryan Treiber and Alec Rice finished amongst a six-way tie for 53rd at 88; and Jordan Svobodny (94) finished 64th.
