ELKTON – The Deubrook Area girls and Colman-Egan boys won team titles at the Dakota Valley Conference Track & Field Meet on Thursday.
The Region 3B and 4B meets are Thursday in De Smet and Elkton, respectively.
Girls
The Dolphins piled up 163 team points to win the championship.
Colman-Egan was second at 102.5, followed by Estelline (91) in third, Lake Preston (76) in fourth, Dell Rapids St. Mary (74) in fifth, De Smet (66) in sixth, Elkton-Lake Benton (63.5) in seventh, Arlington (53) in eighth, Castlewood (33) in ninth and Oldham-Ramona/Rutland (one) in 10th.
Shaylee DeBeer paced Deubrook with a quartet of top-two finishes.
The sophomore won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.04 seconds and the triple jump with a mark of 36 feet, .25 inches. She was runner-up in both the 400 (1:02.35) and 800 (2:28.84).
Cortney Bauman crossed first in the 800 with a 2:28.64 clocking. She was third in the 100 (13.36) and fourth in the 400 (1:02.93).
Ashley Vandermeer added a victory in the long jump with a leap of 16-1. She finished second in the triple jump (35-8) and 200 (26.83), while adding a fifth-place showing in the 400 (1:03.44).
Andrea Vandermeer was tops in the 3,200 in 12:42. She also took third in the 1,600 (5:39.68) and fifth in the 800 (2:40.69).
The Dolphins’ Josie Olsen, Carley Landmark, Sage Koppatschek and Abbie Hulsebus won the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 11:13.59.
The Hawks’ Haleigh Nicol, Mackenzie Hemmer, Elizabeth Moore and Olivia Baumberger teamed to win the 4x100 in 53.92 seconds and the 4x200 with a 1:52.81 clocking.
The Divers’ Rylie Brown was a double winner, taking first in the 100 in 12.67 and the 200 in 26.46.
Teammate Karley DeKnikker won the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.57 and placed second in the 100 hurdles in 16.23.
Ashlyn DeKnikker finished the 1,600 in 5:33.56 to edge runner-up Olsen (5:34.99).
The Divers won the 4x400 (4:25.74) and medley (4:35.34) relays.
The Lady Redmen’s Christine Nefzger cleared 8 feet, 3 inches to take the pole vault title.
Arlington’s Brylee Hennrich finished third in both the 400 (1:02.91) and 800 (2:32.11).
Samantha Schindler paced the Lady Elks with a runner-up showing in the pole vault (8-0).
The Lady Raiders’ Maddy Eich was eighth in the 200 (29.63).
Posting wins for the Lady Bulldogs were Kennadi Buchholz in the high jump (4-11) and Shannon Poppen in the shot put (35-3). DRSM’s Ella Heintz won the 400 (1:01.03) and Maddie Schwebach finished first in the discus (104-11).
Boys
Walker Olivier won four events as the Hawks took the team title with 124 points.
Castlewood finished second at 110. Elkton-Lake Benton (96) finished third, Deubrook Area (81) fourth, De Smet (71.5) fifth, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland (59) sixth, Dell Rapids St. Mary (59) seventh, Lake Preston (56) eighth, Arlington (43) ninth and Estelline (35.5) 10th.
Olivier finished first in the 100 meters in 11.24 seconds, the 200 with a 23.49 clocking, the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.66 and the 300 hurdles with a time of 40.65.
Cole Kriech prevailed in the 400 in 51.67 and also crossed first in the 800 with a 2:06.08 clocking.
Malik Poppenga was second in the high jump (5-7), long jump (19-3) and 800 (2:15.7).
Ryan Berndt led the Dolphins’ top-three sweep in the triple jump with a mark of 39-5 and also won the long jump at 19-4 3/4.
Trace Vierhuf (38-11 1/2) placed second in the triple jump and Clayton Koppatschek (38-2 1/4) was third.
The Elks’ Hunter Nielsen was tops in the pole vault, clearing 11 feet.
ELB won the 4x800 relay in 9:12.64.
The Divers’ Rhett McMasters crossed first in the 3,200 in 11:00.46.
The Raiders’ Bennet Trygstad won the shot put with a heave of 47 feet.
The Cardinals’ Will Parry was fourth in the high jump (5-1) and fifth in the 800 (2:17.55).
The Redmen’s Marcis Hausman took third in the pole vault (9-0).
The Bulldogs’ Baylor Beck won the 1,600 (4:58.37) and Trevin Holland matched that finish in the high jump (5-7). The Warriors’ Costner Ching prevailed in the discus (142-2).
Castlewood won the 4x100 (47.28), 4x200 (1:34.03), 4x400 (3:38.26) and medley (3:58.41) relays.
