Dolphins take 2nd at Class B

WATERTOWN – Burke/South Central senior Tressa Bull and sophomore Taylee Indahl finished 1-2 as the Cougars snapped a streak of four consecutive runner-up finishes by winning the team title in the Class B State Girls’ Golf Tournament on Tuesday at Prairie Winds.

BSC carded a final-round 260 – the low of the tournament – for a 523 total.

Four-time defending champion Deubrook Area (268) was second at 542. Howard (277) dropped to third with a 36-hole score of 545 and Flandreau (287) finished fourth at 576.

Bull, the first-round co-leader, and Indahl both shot 83 in the second round to post totals of 167 and 168, respectively.

Deubrook junior Courtni Frank, last year’s titleist, shot 85 and was third at 173.

Bon Homme’s Makayla Kelley (88) finished fourth at 177 and Philip’s Josie Rush (87) placed fifth with a 180 total.

BSC junior Emily Stukel and seventh-grader Adisyn Indahl both shot 94 Tuesday and placed 16th at 188 and 18th at 190, respectively.

Dolphin junior Mattie Nepodal completed a solid tourney with a 90 as she came in in seventh with a 183 total.

Junior Maci Colberg (93) tied for ninth at 183. Senior Shelby Andrews (96) ended up in a tie for 23rd at 195.

Keva Burshiem paced the Fliers by tying for 11th. The eighth-grader closed with a 95 for a 187 total. Grace Johanson (95) tied for 19th at 191 and fellow-sophomore Alaina Cloud (97) finished in a tie for 28th with a 36-hole tally of 198.

The Tigers’ Maddie Palmquist, the other first-round co-leader, tied for 11th at 187 after shooting 103 on Tuesday.
