Doris Tucker, 85, of Brookings, died Friday, July 27, 2018, at The Neighborhoods at Brookview.  

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 29, beginning at 5 p.m. at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.  Burial is at 9 a.m. Monday at Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings.  Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Doris Adaline Smith Tucker was born on Nov. 6, 1932, to Bradley and Bessie (Reeder) Smith in McColl, South Carolina.  She grew up in Dillon, South Carolina, and attended school in Clinton, South Carolina.  She married William Lee Tucker II at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Clinton, South Carolina.

Doris was a member of Abundant Life Church, and greatly enjoyed singing in the church choir at First Baptist Church, as well as singing with the Sweet Adalines.

Doris loved cooking, gardening, music, and bingo, but her greatest love in life was her husband of 61 years, her three children, and her grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her children: Elizabeth (Mark) Van Horn of Jamestown, North Carolina, Lucinda (Ira) DeBough of Brookings and William (Sarah) Tucker of Brookings; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, brother, and three sisters.
