Douglas Joseph Currier, 68, died Sunday, April 9, 2017, in Sioux Falls.

A memorial service is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Bryant.  Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements

He was born on April 22, 1948, to Forrest and Marye (DeBauche) Currier.  He married Charlotte Moeller on Nov. 6, 1965, and graduated from Bryant High School in 1966.  After graduating he went to SDSU on a football scholarship and then started his own plumbing business in De Smet, South Dakota in 1970.  

He most recently he worked for the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe while living in Brookings.  

 Doug is survived by his wife, Charlotte; four children, Barbara (Rod) Anderson of Omaha, Neb., Sarah (Bernie) Hanson of Sioux Falls,  Amanda (Jason) Willmott of White and Thom (Kelly Phillips) Currier of Minneapolis;  seven grandchildren; one great grandson and one sister, Joie (Currier) Truslow and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Marye Currier; a sister and brother-in-law, Sheryn and Tim Just; and one nephew, Jay Weelborg.
