BROOKINGS – A cement truck driver was injured in a rollover this week, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident occurred about 8:20 a.m. Tuesday on 216th Street near 457th Avenue, west of Sinai, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.

Kasey Menzel, 31, of Lake Preston was driving a 2004 Ready Mix Cement truck past the intersection in a low area with water on both sides of the road, Sebring said.

“The gravel roadway became soft and the driver lost control of the vehicle, where it entered the water and rolled,” he said.

“The driver was transported to the Brookings hospital by the Arlington Ambulance with unknown injuries,” Sebring said.

The cement truck was a complete loss, he added.

Also responding were the Sinai Fire Department, Volga Fire Department and Arlington Fire Department.

The accident is under investigation with the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
