Edward Telkamp, 87, of Brookings, died Friday, June 22, 2018, at the Neighborhoods at Brookview.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings from 5 until 8 p.m. A memorial service honoring Edward’s life is planned for a later date.
Edward August Telkamp was born June 30, 1930, in Brookings, to Harold Isaac and Helen Ruth (Harming) Telkamp. Ed attended school through the eighth grade in Brookings.
On April 13, 1952, Ed married Constance Lucille Herbert, and they had eight children: Rebecca, Joel, Deborah, Bruce, Brian, Julie, Curt and Wendell.
Ed greatly enjoyed the outdoors, and held a true passion for farming, particularly corn, and tended to many animals including cows and chickens. He especially loved time spent with his family. Ed was also a Baptized member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Ed is survived by his children: Rebecca (Tony) Pereira, Joel (Debbie) Telkamp, Deborah (Wayne) Buffington, Bruce Telkamp, Brian (Stephanie) Telkamp, Julie (Kevin) Loving, and Curt Telkamp; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-grandson, due in September.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Connie Telkamp; son, Wendell Telkamp; and grandson, Benjamin Telkamp.
