ELB girls fall to Howard, 40-31

ELKTON – The Elton-Lake Benton girls’ basketball team fell behind early and was unable to come back as they fell to Howard 40-31 Tuesday night.

The Lady Elks were down 14-4 after the first quarter. They outscored the Tigers 8-4 in the second quarter to cut the deficit to six heading into halftime.

ELB kept the momentum going in the third quarter. The Lady Elks cut the lead to 28-25 heading into the fourth. Howard held ELB to six points in the final quarter and scored 12 points themselves to seal the victory.

Kate Connor led Howard with 10 points. Kenedy Koepsell had eight points. Saddie Palmquist and Trinity Palmquist each scored six points.

Rachael Krog led the Lady Elks with 11 points. Brooklyn Nielsen had nine points. Julia Drietz had five points and Emily Robbins had four. Hannah Krog had seven rebounds.

ELB is now 2-9 and will face Oldham-Ramona/Rutland in Ramona Friday at 6 p.m. Howard is 5-5 and will play at Ethan Friday at 6:30 p.m.
