ELB, Sioux Valley VB win

Elkton-Lake Benton and Sioux Valley secured wins in area volleyball over the holiday weekend.

• Elkton-Lake Benton 3, Lake Preston 0

LAKE PRESTON – Elkton-Lake Benton recorded seven aces as the Lady Elks picked up a straight-set win over Lake Preston on Monday night.
Set scores were 24-14, 25-15, and 25-16.

The Lady Elks’ Kylie Ramlo’s three aces led the team, while Kailyn Drietz and Rachael Krog each added two.

Krog posted a game-high 12 kills, Drietz added eight. Kylie Ramlo and Madisyn Nielsen scored six kills each.

ELB blocked a total of eight attacks, as Ramlo and Aubree Bales each had three.

Krog also led the Lady Elks with 12 digs, with Ramlo contributing 11.

For Lake Preston, Annika Malone’s six kills led the team. Jocelyn Steffensen provided team highs of 12 digs and seven set assists.

Both Elkton-Lake Benton (13-10) and Lake Preston (6-15) take part in the Dakota Valley Conference tournament beginning Saturday in Arlington and Deubrook.

• Sioux Valley 3, Deubrook Area 0

WHITE – Reagan Johnson’s 11 kills helped Sioux Valley to a straight-set win over Deubrook Area on Saturday in White.

The Cossacks won by set scores of 25-22, 25-21, and 25-23.

Adison Renkly and Kaedyn Sapp added nine and seven kills, respectively.

Keyra Kruse posted four blocks for Sioux Valley, while Johnson contributed 2 1/2 blocks.

Kasey Pistulka’s 25 digs led the Cossacks, while Johnson added 11 and Julia Steffensen posted ten digs. Bjerke also added a game-high 24 set assists.

Deubrook Area’s Emma Vandermeer had seven kills to lead the Dolphins, and Kyarra Blum added six.

Sioux Valley (11-11) takes part in the Mlibank tournament on Saturday, while Deubrook Area (12-9) hosts one pod of the Dakota Valley Conference tournament, also on Saturday.
