Bobcats finish 8th

SIOUX FALLS – Ellie Abraham was runner-up as she, Ainsley Powers and Kayla Shoup earned All-State honors, and the Bobcats ended up eighth in the team standings at the Class AA State Girls’ Cross Country Meet on Saturday at Yankton Trail Park.

Sioux Falls Lincoln senior Analise Levesque crossed in 18 minutes, 11.97 seconds for first place and lead the Patriots to the team crown.

Abraham, a junior and the defending champion, posted a time of 18:18.27. She also won in 2015, while taking third in 2016 and fourth in 2014.

Lincoln totaled 68 team points and Rapid City Central was second at 84.

Brookings ended up with 179 for eighth – up two spots from last season’s finish.

Ainsley Powers placed 19th with a 19:30.59 clocking.

Kayla Shoup took 23rd in 19:36.98.

Rounding out the Bobcats’ team tally, Jai Reienke (20:36.75) was 59th and Maddix Archer (21:09.79) finished 80th, while Brooke Wika (21:27.56) ended up 90th.
