MADISON – Brookings sophomore Ellie Abraham dominated the John Collignon Invitational Cross Country Meet on Friday, winning in a time of 15 minutes, 33.75 seconds.

MADISON – Brookings sophomore Ellie Abraham dominated the John Collignon Invitational Cross Country Meet on Friday, winning in a time of 15 minutes, 33.75 seconds.

Huron’s Samantha Shoultz was more than 96 seconds back in second place with a 17:09.95 clocking.

The Bobcats’ Ainsley Powers placed third in 17:18.02.

Webster Area’s Rana Hegg (17:23.3) and James Valley Christian’s Madelyn Brantner (17:57.61) rounded out the top five.

Brookings’ Mariah McKibben took seventh in 18:46.81.

Webster won the team title with 33 points. West Central was second at 39. Madison (41), JVC (42), Howard (65) and Sioux Valley (80) were third through sixth, respectively.

Emily Ford paced the Cossacks, taking 21st with a 20:45.34 clocking. Allison Jacobson (21:32.55) was 26th, Adrianna Hockett (21:47.01) 28th and Ashley Weddle (22:09.11) 32nd.

Boys

West Central put four runners in the top six to win the team title with 13 points, while Sioux Valley (46) was second and Brookings (62) third.

Derick Peters ran away with medalist honors in 15:26.7. Teammate Braden Peters was second with a time of 16:23.97.

Webster’s Maxwell Kuecker came in in third at 17:22.4.

The Trojans’ Carter Ulrich (17:51.58) and Caden Ideker (18:17.97) were fourth and sixth, respectively.

Brookings junior Charles Wang was fifth with an 18:03.63 clocking.

The Cossacks’ Kelton Vincent (18:54.59) was eighth and Christian Rosas Landin (19:03.79) ended up ninth.

Max Nielson posted an 11th-place finish in 19:10.58. Evan Rathbun (20:12.81) was 20th to round out the team score.

Completing Brookings’ team tally, Oscar Kavanagh (19:43.87) took 16th, Schaffer Vestal (20:16.66) was 22nd and Casey Pedersen (20:39.53) ended up 26th.

Oldham-Ramona/Rutland was fourth with 66 team points.

Connor Spilde (19:20.03) placed 13th, Justin Casanova (19:34.8) 15th, Jack Olson (20:07.95) 19th and Peyton Roti (20:40.46) 27th.

Sioux Valley competes in the Deubrook Area Invitational today at 9 a.m. at Six Mile Creek in White. ORR travels to the McCook Central/Montrose Invitational on Monday at 4 p.m. in Salem. Brookings heads to the Augustana Twilight on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Yankton Trails in Sioux Falls.
