BROOKINGS – Brookings High School Activities Director Mike Jewett on Thursday announced that Brookings High School and South Dakota State graduate Emma Hardin will be the Bobcats’ first softball head coach when the sport opens its inaugural season as a state-sanctioned sport in the spring of 2023.

Hardin is a 2018 graduate of BHS and has spent the last four years as part of the Jackrabbits’ softball program as a pitcher while majoring in Early Childhood Education.

Hardin has also been a coach with the Brookings Outlaws softball program the past five summers.

In high school, Hardin played with the South Dakota Renegades club softball team and was a four-time state champion, taking her team to back-to-back appearances in the PFG Nationals where in 2016 the Renegades finished as runner-up and in 2017 finished ninth.

Hardin and the Bobcats will open the 2023 season on March 30.
