Equipment stolen from construction site

BROOKINGS – A piece of construction equipment was stolen from a work site on Friday, according to Brookings Police.

The theft and vandalism were reported about 10:30 a.m. Friday and occurred in the 1000 block of Steamboat Trail, Lt. Marci Gebers said.

“The reporting party said sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning, someone had cut hydraulic lines on a telehandler construction lift and stole the steering selector valve,” Gebers said.

“The part that was stolen was valued at approximately $600 and the damage to the telehandler was estimated at approximately $2,500,” Gebers said.

There are no suspects at this time, she added.
