Shredding Day at Dacotah Bank will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at 1441 Sixth St., Brookings. The bank is providing a complimentary, safe and secure method for shredding sensitive information, such as bank statements, pay stubs, credit card applications and more.

The Brookings Buffalo Wild Wings will host a Community Day on Wednesday, April 17, to raise funds via restaurant sales and will donate 10% of its total sales that day, plus any additional guest donations, to the Boys & Girls Club of Brookings as part of the Buffalo Wild Wings Team Up for Kids initiative.

Bingo at the Brookings VFW, 520 Main Ave., is from 6:30-10 p.m. Wednesday, April 17. Cards are handed out at 6:30, and bingo starts at 7. Lunch will be available. For more information, call 692-6771.

South Dakota State University’s School of Communication and Journalism COJO Days continue Wednesday, April 17. “This is Norman,” an inspiring minidocumentary about a 67-year-old blind man’s lifelong dream to visit Italy, will be shown at 7 p.m. in the South Dakota Art Museum. Kathleen Poliski, minidocumentary’s producer, director and editor, will participate in a question-and-answer session afterward.

If you love to paint, join the painting group that meets from noon-5 p.m. every Thursday at the Brookings Arts Council, 524 Fourth St. Come work on individual projects and collaborate on art talk and ideas. No pre-registration is needed.

The next Third Thursday at McCrory Gardens is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at the McCrory Gardens Education and Visitor Center. SDSU instructor of horticulture Brett Owens will present “Preparing Your Garden and Edible Landscape.” This class is free and open to the public. Saturday, April 20

Hop on out to the Swiftel Center for the annual Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 20. This free event opens at 9 a.m. with the hunt beginning at 10 a.m. sharp. Kids can hunt for candy, play games and win prizes. There will be a special appearance by the Easter Bunny. The hunt sections are grouped into age categories. All ages are welcome to the event; only children 12 and under can participate in the hunt. There is also a special Sensory Inclusive Area which is open to children of all ages.

Monday, April 22

Feeding South Dakota will provide free food for families in need at its next mobile food distribution from 10:15-11:15 p.m. Monday, April 22, in the Volga Community Center, 109 Samara Ave. Food distributions provide an assortment of food that may include frozen and fresh produce, frozen meats, assorted breads and/or canned and boxed items. Please bring something to carry your food in, such as coolers, bags or totes.
