Come to the South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 15, as staff celebrate their newest exhibit, FarmHer South Dakota. During this reception, there will be a curator talk at 2:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public, and the exhibit will be on display until Feb. 8, 2020.

Brookings Area Community Band’s season-opening concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at the Pioneer Park Bandshell. “A World of Adventure” – The band pays tribute to the great American summer vacation with folk songs, medleys and other musical reminders of far-away places. In case of rain, concerts start at 7:45 p.m. and are moved indoors to the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center. Each evening, a complimentary snack will be served by band volunteers. Monday, June 17

Feeding South Dakota will provide free food for families in need at its next mobile food distribution from 12:15-1:15 p.m. Monday, June 17, at the Elkton Community Center. Food distributions provide an assortment of food that may include frozen and fresh produce, frozen meats, assorted breads and/or canned and boxed items. Please bring something to carry your food in, such as coolers, bags or totes.

The Eastern South Dakota Soil and Water Research Farm 25th annual field day, “The Hidden Benefits of Cover Crops,” is set for Tuesday, June 18, at 3714 Western Ave. (1.5 miles north of the Highway 14 bypass on Western Avenue). Registration starts at 9:30 a.m., with a tour at 10 a.m. and a meal at noon. For more information, call the USDA ARS North Central Agricultural Research Laboratory at 693-3241.

Brent Yantis from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Regional Application Center will bring the Earth as Art exhibit to the Brookings Public Library from June 15-July 22 and will give a talk on the out-of-this-world exhibit at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 18. The Earth as Art gallery exhibit features remarkable images of the surface of the Earth that have been captured by remote sensing devices aboard Landsat and other satellites.
