BROOKINGS – The South Dakota State University School of Performing Arts honors its home of 39 years when it presents three decommissioning concerts in Peterson Recital Hall, which has seen approximately 50 concerts a year. Faculty, alumni and the Dakota String Quartet will take the stage for these performances, which start Nov. 26.

The School of Performing Arts moves to the expanded Performing Arts Center for the spring semester.

The Brookings Chamber Music Society will present the Dakota String Quartet at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 26.

Formed in 1981, the BCMS held many of its concerts in Peterson through its formative years, and the Dakota String Quartet performed on no fewer than 10 of its earlier seasons.

The quartet will perform “Prokofiev’s Quartet No. 2 in F Major, Op. 92” and will close the program with John Walker in a performance of Schumann’s “Piano Quintet in E-flat Major, Op. 44.”

Tickets are $20, $5 for students and will be available at the door.

School of Performing Arts faculty will perform both solo and chamber works for both voice and instruments at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 27. Both contemporary and classical composers will be featured and this concert is free and open to the public.

Four generations of alumni are scheduled to take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 30. Music by Bach, Debussy, Charlie Parker and Broadway favorites are on the program. This concert is also free and open to the public.

A reception will follow each concert in the Schultz Reception Lounge.
