Faye L. Bullis passed away March 15, 2023, in Hendricks MN.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at First United Methodist Church, Brookings, SD. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at First United Methodist Church.  Rude’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Faye Lavonne Bullis was born on April 10, 1933, in Bushnell to Floyd and Teressa (Stewart) Soden, the youngest of five children. She spent most of her childhood in Brookings, SD with a brief stint in Washington State in the 1940s.  She went to school in Brookings and graduated from Brookings High School. As a young adult Faye worked at Red Owl Grocery in Brookings.
She married Stanley Stewart Bullis on Dec. 11, 1952, at Aurora Methodist Church. After Stan graduated from SDSU in 1954, they lived in Aurora until buying a farm in Argo Township, North of Brookings in 1966. Faye and Stan had two boys, Grant and Jeff. They farmed with their boys until Stan’s death in 1984.  During this time Faye also worked as a clerk at the SDSU storehouse until her retirement in 1995.
After retirement she worked for The Brookings Register and the Volunteer Center part time.  Faye moved to Stoneybrook in Brookings in 2016, then the Hendricks Nursing Home in 2021.
Faye was a member of Sterling Methodist Church, then Brookings First United Methodist Church.
Her greatest love in her life was her family. Like many moms, she was the best mom in the world, only wielding a wooden spoon when necessary.  She loved being a grandma, and her grandchildren called her Grandma Faye.  Many trips were made to California to adore and spoil Grant’s children, and countless trips to Watertown to help raise Jeff’s kids.  When the kids got bigger she used to tell them to sit down so she could look them in the eye.
She enjoyed baking, playing cards and coffee with friends.  She celebrated being with people.  She was strong and determined (a requirement to being married to a Bullis) and loved to laugh.
Faye is survived by her son, Grant and wife Jessie of Orange County, California, their kids Emily, Sam, Matthew, Mercedes and Jeremy. Great Grandkids Ashton, Kaleb, Ceagan, Willow and Bodhi.   Son Jeff and wife Lynette of Watertown, SD and their kids Remington and Margaret.   Sisters-in-Law, Mary Sanderson, Carol Capsner and Pam McCartney.  Brother-in-Law Richard and wife Bonnie Bullis.  Many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stan, and an infant son, her parents, siblings Delvin Soden, Welden Soden, Maxine Nelson, and Evonne Sorenson, Brothers-in-law Marshall Bullis, James Bullis and Dean Sanderson.
