BROOKINGS – Sioux Falls Lincoln only had one shot on goal in the first half, but the Patriots made it count, and then they held on for a 1-0 win over the Bobcats in girls’ soccer action on Thursday at Fishback Soccer Park.

The ’Cats held the early advantage before Mollie Kelly took a pass from Ryley Heier inside the box and found the back of the net in the 28th minute of play.

Both teams had three shots on goal in the second half but Lincoln’s Sienna Syverson finished with five saves for the shutout win in goal.

Grace Mork collected three saves for Brookings as Josie Bono had a shot on goal in each half; Ava Burns took one in the first half; and Emily Rystrom and Rylee Stromer-Iversen each fired a shot on goal in the second half.

The Bobcats finished with six corner kicks – all in the second half – while Lincoln had four in the first and three in the second.

Brookings, 2-3 on the season, plays host to Brandon Valley on Saturday in an Eastern South Dakota Conference match that starts at noon.
