Five Jackrabbits named to The Summit League Academic All-League team

ELMHURST, Ill. – Five South Dakota State swimming and diving student-athletes – four men and one woman – were honored on Thursday as members of The Summit League Academic All-League teams.

SDSU led the team with four members on the men's side, followed by Denver, South Dakota and IUPUI.

Seniors Noah Batenhorst and Weston Christensen were repeat honorees.

Batenhorst, a diver from Omaha, Neb., earned his third consecutive selection after posting a 3.92 GPA in mechanical engineering.

Christensen, a distance swimmer from Pierre, also is a three-time selection with a 3.93 GPA as a civil engineering major.

Brothers Chris and Wyatt Rumrill were the final selections for the Jacks.

Chris earned his second consecutive honor, posting a perfect 4.0 in electrical engineering.

Wyatt claimed his first award with another perfect 4.0 in biology.

In the women's division, Katya Vashteyn was the only female selected for the Jackrabbits.

The junior from Leawood, Kan., has a 3.84 as a pharmacy major and competed primarily in the backstroke and freestyle throughout the season.

** To be eligible for The Summit League Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions. Selections are based on a vote by the league members' sports information directors and faculty athletics representatives.
