Flandreau comes in 2nd at MCM Cross Country Invitational

Ethan/Parkston took home the boys’ division with 28 points, while Chamberlain scored 12 points and won the girls’ division at the McCook Central Montrose Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at the McCook Country Club.

The Flandreau boys took second, posting a team score of 30, while Deubrook Area claimed third with 42 points.

Baltic took second in the team standings of the girl’s division with 36 points, followed by Hanson in third at 39 points.

Flandreau finished fifth with 55 points, DeSmet in sixth with 57 points, and Deubrook Area eighth with 65 points.

Individually, Josiah Schroeder of Canistota won the meet in 17:13.27, followed by Dom Santiago of Chamberlain and Evan Bartelt of Ethan/Parkston.

Liam Streitz of Flandreau took seventh in a time of 19:25.25, while the Fliers Austin Kulm crossed the finish line ninth in 19:36.48. Matthew Gassman rounded out the scoring for Flandreau, placing 25th.

The Dolphins Parker Crooks crossed in 10th place in a time of 19:43.39, followed by Shiloh Koch in 18th in 20:12.71. Colton Trooien placed 30th, finishing in 21:02.81.

Lake Preston also had one runner in the meet, AJ Wienk, who finished 28th in 20:42.98.

Girls

In the girls’ race, Chamberlain’s Kinsey Evans crossed first in a time of 20:25.24, clear of second place by 42 seconds.

Ethan/Parkston’s Lindsey Roth crossed second in 21:07.93, followed by Freeman Academy’s Jada Koerner in 21:32.34.

Deubrook Area’s Ellie Olsen placed fifth in a time of 21:55.18. Teammates Joeve Krier (40th, 25:26.16) and ElleAnna Hansen (48th, 26:44.34) completed the Dolphins’ scoring.

Flandreau’s Lily Klein finished 14th in a time of 23:20.32, followed by Hailey Lahr in 24th in 23:55.40, and Rebecca Heineman in 39th in 25:20.07.

Colman-Egan’s Reese Luze was the lone Hawks runner in the field, finishing 10th in 23:02.75.

Oldham-Ramona/Rutland’s Briella Wettlaufer finished 18th in 23:43.47, the Raiders only runner.

Flandreau’s Benjamin Westberry finished fifth in the boys JV race in 17:34.73, and the Fliers’ Kiley Westberry  crossed seventh in the girls JV race, clocking a time of 20:09.19.
