Flandreau wrestlers go 0-3 at West Lyon Quadrangular

WEST LYON, Iowa – The Fliers went 0-3 at the West Lyon Quadrangular on Tuesday night.

Flandreau competes in the Tri-Valley Tournament on Saturday. Competition starts at 10 a.m.

 Parker 45, Flandreau 21

The Pheasants used five wins by fall and a pair of forfeits to power past the Fliers on Tuesday night.

After Parker’s Grant Plucker won by fall in 58 seconds over Austin Kulm at 138 pounds, Michael Witte’s 5-0 decision at 145 over Travis Leber got Flandreau on the scoreboard.

But three straight wins – two by fall – and a forfeit gave the Pheasants what proved to be an insurmountable lead as the Fliers won just three more matches.

Chase Reed won by fall in 1:15 over Geoff Dunkelberger at 220; Hunter Witte pinned Tanner Preheim in 2:51 at 106; and then, at 113, Caleb Dietrich won by forfeit to account for Flandreau’s team points.

 Parkston 54, Flandreau 27

The Fliers had success in the middle weights but gave up six forfeits to fall to Parkston.

Kulm’s 9-2 decision over Austin Bartelt started Flandreau’s surge as Michael Witte picked up a forfeit at 145; Brendan Ten Eyck needed just 43 seconds to pin Logan Heidinger at 152; Preston Keith won by fall in 1:20 over Jeremiah Kohler at 160; and then, Kolby Peterson won by fall in 3:57 over Cael Ryther at 170.

 West Lyon 60, Flandreau 13

The Fliers won three matches – with two being by technical falls – to score 13 points.

Michael Witte needed the entire six minutes to defeat Stefan Van Beek, 17-2, at 145.

Keith won a 5-3 decision over Zach Hamman, and then, Dietrich posted a 16-0 tech fall over Jose Richarz in 5:18 at 113.
