PARKER – The Flandreau girls came in first and the Flandreau boys finished in second at the Big East Conference Cross Country meet at the Par-Mar Golf Course.
Flandreau won the team event with 19 points. Sioux Valley came in second place (25) and Beresford finished in third (48).
Eighth grader Faith Wiese of Flandreau won the individual race with a time of 19 minutes and 27.69 seconds. Isabelle Bloker of Sioux Valley came in second (20:01.23) and Beresford’s Ella Merriman finished in third (21:32.13).
Flandreau’s Lily Klein and Kiley Westberry finished fourth (21:33.83) and fifth (21:35.83), respectively. Hailey Lahr came in 10th (22:46.15) and Rebecca Heineman rounded things out for the Fliers, coming in 13th (23:19.51).
Sioux Valley’s Caitlin Russell and Liberty Trygstad finished in sixth (21:41.15) and seventh (22:20.24), respectively. Tayla Vincent and Kailey Cradduck were the final finishers for the Cossacks and they came in 11th (22:50.90) and 12th (22:51.20), respectively.
Beresford came in first place with 25 points, edging out Flandreau who had 26. Baltic came in third with 57 points and beat Sioux Valley in a tie breaker who also had 57.
The Fliers had six of the top-11 finishers. Austin Kulm and Lurick Dailey led the way, coming in fourth (18:57.97) and fifth (18:51.96), respectively.
Matthew Gassman came in eighth (18:57.80) and Tanner Reed finished in ninth (19:06.99). Brenton Westberry and Liam Streitz rounded things out for Flandreau, coming in 10th (19:20.15) and 11th (19:25.67).
Skylar Schwab was the top finisher for Sioux Valley and he came in sixth with a time of 18:53.19. Dylan Strouth and Carson Wosje came in 12th (19:34.44) and 13th (19:34.67), respectively for the Cossacks. Trevor Schultz came in 31st (22:37.07).
Beresford had the top-two finishers with Cameron Wells (17:26.04) and Andrew Atwood (17:41.60). Baltic’s John Gronewold came in third (18:09.45).
Up next, the Cossacks and Fliers will compete in the Region 2A Meet at the Madison Golf & Country Club on Oct. 14
