PIERRE – The bridge within Randall Creek Recreation Area near Pickstown has been closed after sustaining structural damage during a flash flood in March.
Since the bridge is the only access to the park’s campground, the campground will be closed for the summer of 2019. Park officials have issued full refunds to campers with existing reservations.
“We are working to find a solution to get the bridge replaced as soon as possible,” said district park supervisor Jon Corey. “The good news is that the park still has a lot of recreational opportunities to offer, from boating to birdwatching. The day use facilities were not affected, and we encourage folks to come out and spend the day at the park.”
The day use area includes a picnic area with reservable shelters, a nine-hole disc golf course, volleyball area, and boat ramp access to the Missouri River. For more information, contact the park office at 605-487-7046
Randall Creek Recreation Area is located one mile west of Pickstown off U.S. Highway 281.
