Flyers top Rangers 8-3 in SDAHA girls’ matchup

BROOKINGS – Sioux Falls built a 4-0 lead after a period during an 8-3 victory over the Rangers in a SDAHA girls’ game Sunday at Larson Ice Center.

Grace Halvorson netted four goals and Kaija Mork had two for the Flyers (4-1).

Halvorson scored the game’s first two goals, while Mork and Gaby Schroder added first-period goals to make it 4-0.

Brookings’ Jadyn Peterson netted a hat trick in the second to pull the home team within 5-3. During the scoring spree, Gwyn Winter lit the lamp for Sioux Falls.

Mork and Halvorson scored later in the period to push the margin to 7-3. Halvorson found the back of the net again with 45 seconds remaining in the third.

Ava Krabbenhoft stopped 24 shots to earn the win in goal. Berit Hefti, Sophia Ries and Chloe Harbaugh each tallied a pair of assists.

Savannah Barber, Addison Ramlo and Jenna Schulte had assists for the Rangers. Marina Gerstner made 30 saves.

Brookings (4-2) is host to Aberdeen on Saturday, Jan. 5, at 7 p.m.
